All Haven volunteers are required to attend a 30-hour training program, commit to 2 1/2 hours a week on the telephones for a year and attend two additional sessions relevant to our work each year. Volunteering at Haven is more than just being on the phone, it is committing to supporting a grieving person with individual help, and assisting with our workshops, support groups or community presentations.

Haven is funded mainly by donations from individuals in the community who wish to support our work and by those who donate in memory of a loved one who has died. Since 1976, Haven has provided grief support services, with no fees, thanks to contributions from the community. As an all-volunteer organization, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charity, Haven commits its income to the direct support of its programs. Your contributions are vital and are tax-deductible.
