Testimonials

Haven helped save my life.  That’s what I tell everyone who asks me about my grief journey and where I got help.

Two years ago, my sister told me about Haven and encouraged me to contact them. I was a year into my grieving for my beloved husband and wasn’t feeling any different than when his sudden death happened.

I called Haven and asked for one-on-one counseling.  I then got a call from Don, one of Haven’s trained volunteers, and we met for coffee.

After pouring my heart out to Don for almost two hours (sobbing through most of it), Don asked, “Would you like to meet again?”  I replied, “Why would you want to do this again?”  He said that he would gladly meet with me to listen.

That is exactly what I needed, and all of us who are grieving need — someone who will listen.  Someone who won’t tell us to move on or who wants to change the subject.  Don’s compassion and commitment to help me with my grief journey was the lifeline I so desperately needed.  I strongly encourage anyone who is grieving to reach out to Haven for one-on-one or group sessions.
